Jan Mozetič (1984) is a filmmaker and director of photography based on the Slovenian-Italian border. He studied art history at the Università Statale di Milano. For several years he worked as a critic — writing on contemporary art, photography and comics for Lo Straniero, the magazine edited by Goffredo Fofi, and on cinema for Filmidee and the Slovenian press.

His films traverse documentary, fiction and the visual essay. Ednina (2014) received a Special Mention at Filmmaker Festival Milano and the Night Award at Signes de Nuit, Paris. Miren dan / A Calm Day (2018), supported by the Slovenian Film Centre, earned him the Iris Award for Best Cinematography in Documentary. Dva koraka od Baltika do Jadrana / Two Steps from the Baltic to the Adriatic (2023), an international co-production developed within the Erasmus+ programme, was selected in competition at the Festival of Slovenian Film and at DOKUDOC Maribor, and earned a second Iris Award for Best Cinematography. He has collaborated with RAI Friuli Venezia Giulia, Videoest and Kinoatelje, and has worked within the European film education project Moving Cinema. He leads filmmaking workshops. He also pursues a practice of documentary photography alongside his filmmaking.
